BONNIE RAITT

Dig In Deep (2016)

2016 sees the release of one of the most complete, enthralling and mature albums to date by Bonnie Raitt, among the most refined and coherent artists in the Rock/Blues genre.
“Dig In Deep” (produced by Raitt herself, with the exception of the song “You’ve Changed My Mind”, penned by Joseph Lee “Joe” Henry and co-produced with the author) offers twelve tracks in which Bonnie’s voice and slide guitar are the undisputed protagonists. The record presents compositions by the North American songwriter (Raitt is a native of Burbank, California), as well as songs written by other artists. Among the latter, the following are certainly worth mentioning: the re-interpretation of “Need You Tonight”, originally featured in the 1987 album “Kick” by Australian band INXS (rather a distant call from Raitt’s habitual musical interests); “I Knew” by guitarist Pat McLaughlin; “Shakin’ Shakin’ Shakes”, from the Los Lobos’ 1987 effort “By The Light Of The Moon”.
In “Dig In Deep”, Raitt is accompanied by a range of high-level musicians, such as: Ricky Fataar (drums and percussions), George Marinelli (guitar), James “Hutch” Hutchinson (bass), Mike Finnigan (keyboards, vocals) and Jon Cleary (vocals).
