“Modern Lives Vol 1” is the proof that what counts in the success of an album is not its duration but the quality of its tracks.
Although Jackie Greene’s CD released in 2017, lasts only 25 minutes from the first to the last track and it contains just 6 songs, it is a concentration of excellent music performed with an element of high taste.
Greene is both the producer and sound engineer for the entire album; in addition to singing, he also plays all the instruments and wrote five tracks out of six (only “Good Advice” bears another composer’s signature: Willie Dixon’s, to be precise).
“Modern Lives Vol 1” is one of the most brilliant album of the musical genre labelled as “Americana”: an excellent mix of joyful guitar-playing and intense vocal performances, pieces of music influenced by blues, soul, country and genuine rock music.
