A collaborator of highly respected artists such as John Lee Hooker, Joe Tex, Big Mama Thornton, and a member of bands such as Canned Heat and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Walter Trout only recently recovered from a state of precarious health. Thanks to a successful liver transplant, Trout was even able to return to recording albums filled with scorching rock blues (as was always his custom).
The Ocean City (New Jersey) born guitarist’s love for blues strengthened by heavy injections of rock music and tremendous guitar cuts is celebrated once again in his 2019 release “Survivor Blues”.
Trout offers personal versions of “minor” (or less known) tracks written by famous blues musicians (Hound Dog Taylor, Elmore James, J.B. Lenoir, Luther Johnson, just to mention a few).
In the song by Mississippi Fred McDowell entitled “Goin’ Down To The River”, Walter Trout is accompanied by The Doors’ guitarist Robbie Krieger.
