Despite his intense touring activity (boasting more than 200 gigs per year!), Canadian guitarist/singer/songwriter Matt Andersen still found the time to travel to Nashville and record his excellent album “Halfway Home By Morning”.
These thirteen tracks confirm his strong skills when it comes to writing direct, simple (yet never banal) songs drawing from the sources of blues and traditional rock.
Production of the record is handled by the expert Steve Dawson, also a Canadian (who has resided in Nashville for many years now) and a collaborator of such renowned artists as Sonny Landreth, Colin James, Jim Byrnes, Dave Alvin, The McCrary Sisters, Bruce Cockburn, The Deep Dark Woods and many more.
The track “Something To Lose” is sung by Amy Helm, co-author of the song alongside Andersen and daughter of Levon Helm (the drummer of The Band who passed away in 2012).
