You might call “And It’s Still Alright” a relaxed album. Performing without his band, The Night Sweats, Nathaniel Rateliff, the man behind the album, delivers ten lithe and graceful tracks. The St Louis (Missouri) artist’s voice is the real star of the album: with his marked gift for expression, he manages to impart real emotion to pieces such as the acoustic (and exquisite) “Kissing Our Friends”, “Mavis”, a stand-out gem, and the thoughtful “Time Stands” (featuring guitarist Luk Mossman, a member of the previously mentioned The Night Sweats).
