A very solid line-up (Stuart Mathis on guitar and violin, David Sutton on bass, and Butch Norton on drums and percussion) is the perfect support act to Lucinda Williams’ vocals on her 2020 album, “Good Souls Better Angels”.
Even on the most inspiring ballads (“Big Black Train”, “Good Souls” or “When The Way Gets Dark”), the singer-songwriter’s voice is as rough as sandpaper and strikes right at the listener’s heart. It’s easy to imagine how Williams’ vocal performances hit home on the most caustic tracks (such as “Bad News Blues” or “You Can’t Rule Me”)...
