Tower Of Power is a band with a long history (their first album, “East Bay Grease”, was released in 1970), yet even in 2020 they still manage to serve up some snappy morsels of soul, R&B, and funk.
”Step Up” features tracks full of fizz and verve (including “Any Excuse Will Do”, “If You Wanna Be A Winner” and “The Story Of You And I”), while more “relaxed” pieces (like “Who Would Have Thought?”) are held back in reserve.
