Produced by the masterful, and highly in-demand Dave Cobb, “Good Luck With Whatever” provides the band Dawes with the opportunity to emerge from the shadows of their previous, rather impenetrable efforts.
The album, published in October 2020, is further evidence of the Taylor brothers (vocals and guitar) and Griffin Goldsmith’s (drums) efforts to remake authentic 1970s country rock in their own image.
Buzzing guitars, nicely harmonised vocals, and catchy melodies (for example, on “Didn’t Fix Me” and “Who Do You Think You’re Talkin’ To?”) make “Good Luck With Whatever” a nice refuge for anyone who feels lost without the music of The Eagles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, etc.
