Hailed by the most informed critics as one of the foremost exponents of new American country music, Tennessee Jet (who goes by stage name TJ McFarland) marks 2020 with his third album ”The Country”.
A fan of hard rock too, Tennessee Jet manages to inject notes of pure energy into his records thanks to his strong, sharp writing and performances. This is apparent when you listen to “Johnny” (a track dedicated to country singer Johnny Horton, who was killed on 5 November 1960 by a drunk driver) and “She Talks to Angels” (a cover of a 1990 Black Crowes’ track from their album “Shake Your Money Maker”).
And, obviously, more classical country is also on show, with tracks like “Pancho&Lefty” (by Townes Van Zandt), “Someone To You”, and “The Raven & The Dove” (written by Tennessee Jet with Cody Jinks).
