CHRIS STAPLETON

Starting Over (2020)

After an exceptional debut album (“Traveller” in 2015) and the two – excellent but of lesser quality - “From A Room: Volume 1” and “From A Room: Volume 2” (released in 2017), Chris Stapleton receives critical acclaim once again thanks to “Starting Over”.
Strong pieces alternate with extravagant ballads, gritty vocal interpretations are met with tracks of calm, relaxed singing. As well as the 11 tracks (smooth and immersed in rock, country and soul atmospheres) written alone or in collaboration with other musician friends, “Starting Over” includes three compositions by other hands: Joy Of My Life by John Fogerty, Worry B Gone and Old Friends by Guy Clark.
Stapleton produced “Starting Over” himself together with Dave Cobb and the album saw the participation of illustrious guests such as Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell (both long-time collaborators of Tom Petty) and guitarist Paul Franklin, a much sought-after session man (having played with Rodney Crowell, George Strait, Sting, Peter Frampton, Mark Knopfler, to mention just a few) and a member of “The Notting Hillbillies”.
