Born into music (her father, Johnny, was a famous singer and guitarist), Shemekia Copeland began performing at the age of ten.
And, like her father, Shemekia Copeland is very much part of the blues scene – as her records clearly show.
Her blues-soaked 2020 album, “Uncivil War”, sees her give a masterful vocal performance, accompanied by a whole host of top-drawer guests, including Jason Isbell, Duane Eddy, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and Steve Cropper on guitar, Sam Bush on mandolin, and Jerry Douglas on lap steel guitar.
“Uncivil War” is produced by Will Kimbrough, who also appears on guitar throughout the album.
