An ageing Willie Nelson (born in Abbott, Texas in 1933) adds yet another release to his already extensive body of work.
”First Rose of Springs” is further evidence of Nelson’s importance to American music in general, and to country music in particular.
Following his usual practice, Willie Nelson mixes his own tracks with pieces composed by others. The latter include “Don’t Let The Old Man In” by Toby Keith (the popular country singer), “Our Song” by Chris Stapleton, “We Are The Cowboys” by Billy Joe Shaver, and “Yesterday When I Was Young”, a heartfelt version of Charles Aznavour’s 1964 classic, ”Hier Encore”.
