JON BATISTE

We Are (2021)

Despite his young age (he was born in 1986), the American pianist and composer Jonathan Michael "Jon" Batiste can boast the achievement of countless artistic milestones: he was a conductor on the highly popular CBS television show "The Late Show", he made his recording debut in 2005 with the album "Times In New Orleans", in 2018 he signed a contract with the prestigious record label Verve and recorded "Hollywood Africans" with T-Bone Burnett's production, he won an Oscar for the soundtrack of the Disney/Pixar animated film "Soul", he is the creative director of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem.
With such a resume behind him, in 2021 he released "We Are", a delightful musical picture with strokes of soul, jazz and contemporary rhythm&blues...
Preceded by the single of the same name (released in support of the "Black Lives Matter" protests), "We Are" features his father Michael Batiste, Trombone Shorty, Mavis Staples, Steve Jordan, PJ Morton, Robert Randolph.
