THE MAGPIE SALUTE
High Water I (2018)
A quintet born from the ashes of The Black Crowes and now releasing their debut album, The Magpie Salute offer their fans 48 total minutes of well-crafted music, capable of ranging from country to energetic rock, from “Americana” to blues.
The album “High Water I” (a title suggesting the release of an imminent second volume) stems from the desire of The Black Crowes’s three founding members, Rich Robinson, Marc Ford and Sven Pipien, to explore a new creative output. The inclusion of Texan singer John Hogg proves to be a crucial element: his interpretative vein and writing skills (nine tracks out of twelve on the record bear his co-signature) provide help The Magpie Salute find their own independence from the heavy legacy of Robinson, Ford and Pipien’s previous artistic adventure.
