Dion's 2021 album may be considered the logical continuation of "Blues With Friends", published June last year.
In fact, just like as in the previous work, "Stomping Ground" not only proposes episodes of strapping rock blues, but also features collaborations with some top-quality guests.
Some of them (Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa, Joe Bonamassa, Billy F Gibbons, Joe Menza, Jimmy Vivino, Sonny Landreth) had already contributed to the recording of some tracks on "Blues With Friends", others (including Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Keb' Mo', Boz Scaggs, Peter Frampton to name just a few) collaborated with Dion in his recent recording project.
Born in the Bronx in the US, Dion (whose real name is Dion Francis DiMucci) succeeds in stunning his listeners with fourteen red-hot tracks composed by himself alone or in collaboration with his friend Mike Aquilina or with Bill Tuohy.
The only track not written by Dion himself, is "Red House" by Jimi Hendrix, present here in a reputable version performed by Dion together with the excellent musician Keb' Mo'.
