CORDOVAS

That Santa Fe Channel (2018)

If Cordovas had existed (artistically speaking) in the 1970s, it would have been in the excellent company of bands such as the Eagles, Poco, The Flying Burrito Brothers but also (even) the Grateful Dead, The Byrds and The Allman Brothers Band.
The quintet was formed in Nashville, thanks to efforts made by Toby Weaver (guitar) and, above all, by Joe Firstman (born in 1979 in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA), its bassist, lead singer and song-writer.
The music performed by Cordovas in which the group’s third album entitled “That Santa Fe Channel” is steeped, is an effective miscellany of country-rock and “americana”, with extensive use of crystal-clear, dreamy pedal steel guitar sounds alongside enchanting vocal combinations.
Although “That Santa Fe Channel” is rather a short album (lasting just under thirty minutes), it represents one of the most intriguing releases on the new US country-rock music scenario.
