CRAIG FINN

A Legacy Of Rentals (2022)

Member of the band Lifter Pulled (formed in 1994) and then of the better-known The Hold Steady, singer and songwriter Craig Finn embarks on a solo career in 2012 with the release of his debut album "Clear Heart Full Eyes".
His refined poetical vein (the track "Break From The Barrage" is about a blacked-out drunk alone in a cinema in a shopping mall on the outskirts, "The Year We Fell Behind" describes a couple in their house teeming with flies and impregnated with unexpressed resentment, in the final "This Is What It Looks Like", the storyteller is disoriented after a wild party) and the powerful musical vision are clearly discernible in the recent CD "A Legacy Of Rentals": ten intriguing tracks that cleverly combine a disarming lyricism with hints of folk, indie rock and fleeting forays into digital sounds.
"A Legacy Of Rentals" is produced by Josh Kaufman, multi-instrumentalist, member of the Muzz and Bonny Light Horseman ensembles and former collaborator of Finn himself, The Hold Steady, Bob Weir, Taylor Swift, and Cassandra Jenkins. The latter singer-songwriter is featured on vocals on the aforementioned track "The Year We Fell Behind".
