JASON ISBELL AND THE 400 UNIT

Weathervanes (2023)

After abandoning the Drive-By Truckers line-up in 2007 (after six years of militancy), American singer, guitarist and songwriter (born 1 February 1979 in Green Hill, Lauderdale County, State of Alabama) Jason Isbell inaugurated his solo career with the release of the album "Sirens Of The Ditch", which was very well received by the specialist critics.
Together with his personal band, The 400 Unit, he makes albums in which simple but never banal rock is intertwined with the "Americana" genre taken to its highest expression.
Already welcomed by rockpartyshow in the "SUPERrecommendedalbum" column with his May 2020 work Reunions, Jason Isbell (always accompanied by the inseparable line-up The 400 Unit) returns to be the protagonist of rockpartyshow's most incisive programming with the excellent "Weathervanes": 13 tracks of noble rock in which the titular character measures himself against the conditions of the working class, the consequences of mental illness, the difficulties of making choices in a world in which one no longer recognises oneself, and everyday life that generates existential anguish.
