With "Accentuate The Positive" Van Morrison has appropriated the songs he heard during his adolescence (Morrison was born in 1945) interpreting them with his usual timeless professionalism mixed with sublime interpretive class.
"Accentuate The Positive" celebrates the early vagaries of rock'n'roll by giving lively renditions of songs such as "Bye Bye Johnny" (by Chuck Berry), "Lucille" (by Albert Collins and Little Richard), "Shakin' All Over" (by Johnny Kidd and Guy Robinson), "Lonesome Train" (composed by Paul Burlison, Dorsey and Johnny Burnette, Glen Moore, Milton Subotsky). The latter song features vocalist Chris Farlowe (formerly with Colosseum and Atomic Rooster) and guitarist (who died January 10, 2023 at age 78) Jeff Beck.
