JOE BONAMASSA

Blues Deluxe Vol. 2 (2023)

Twenty years after the previous "Bues Deluxe", Joe Bonamassa releases the natural discographic and artistic follow-up. To emphasize the direct connection with the 2003 album, the chosen title is "Blues Deluxe Vol. 2".
Except for two songs, the remaining eight tracks on the album revisit pieces brought to fame by musicians belonging to the realms of blues music, such as Bobby "Blue" Bland, Guitar Slim, Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters, Fleetwood Mac, Pee Wee Crayton, Albert King, and Kenny Neal.
It's needless to underline that throughout the entire album, you can breathe the full essence of blues music brought to its peak by the incisive work carried out by Bonamassa's guitar. Not forgetting the excellent support provided by Reese Wynans (keyboards and B3 organ) and the relentless rhythm section consisting of drummer Lemar Carter and bassist Calvin Turner.
In "Blues Deluxe Vol. 2", there is also room for a track composed by Bonamassa himself along with Tom Hambridge, titled "Hope You Realize (Goodbye Again)", and a piece signed by Josh Smith (the concluding "Is It Safe To Go Home"), the latter being not only a guitarist but also the producer of the album.
