ROBBIE ROBERTSON (1943 – 2023)

Mercoledì 9 agosto è deceduto, all’età di 80 anni e a causa di un tumore alla prostata, il cantante, polistrumentista e compositore canadese Robbie Robertson. 

Nato il 5 luglio 1943 a Toronto come Jaime Robert Klegerman, dopo la morte (avvenuta prima della sua nascita) del padre naturale adotta il cognome del nuovo marito della madre Rosemarie Dolly Chrysler (una nativa americana Mohawk). 

La sua militanza nelle fila della formazione The Band, la sua collaborazione con Bob Dylan, una carriera solista costituita di album prestigiosi (in particolare quello pubblicato nel settembre 1991 Storyville), l’assidua collaborazione con il regista Martin Scorsese (il quale dirigerà il film/concerto del 1978 The Last Waltz per celebrare l’addio alle scene di The Band) fanno di Robertson uno dei musicisti più influenti che la musica rock possa annoverare.

In merito alla morte del musicista, la famiglia di Robbie Robertson ha pubblicato la seguente dichiarazione: 

”Robbie was surrounded by his family at the time of his death, including his wife, Janet, his ex-wife, Dominique, her partner Nicholas, and his children Alexandra, Sebastian, Delphine, and Delphine’s partner Kenny. He is also survived by his grandchildren Angelica, Donovan, Dominic, Gabriel, and Seraphina. Robertson recently completed his fourteenth film music project with frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese, Killers of the Flower Moon. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Six Nations of the Grand River to support a new Woodland Cultural Centre”.
